Switching Genres 4/30

I think the biggest change in how I thought about the subject of my paper/podcast was that I needed to address and identify a reason for discussing this topic. When it’s written down, it just feels like an academic paper that people can read or skim as they wish but a podcast needs more of a purpose, so that people will want to listen. I also expanded quite a bit on my conclusion to emphasize the reasons behind my podcast. The body of it provides context and examples but the end is necessary to provide the next steps. The biggest change in language is regarding formality. A paper is expected to include more formal language, but it a podcast includes elevated words and phrases, it may be off-putting to listeners, especially those who may not have a lot of background knowledge. The language actually needs to be simple because people simply would not be able to keep up without being able to go back and reread sections. Additionally, both with my tone of voice and by incorporating personal ideas, along with those of my interviewee, emotions could be expresses and the topics feels more realistic and evident in everyday life.
